Currency

Hi, we are travelling to Sarajevo in September and cannot buy any currency in England. Can anyone recommend the best way to get money once we are in Sarajevo. Should we take Euro%26#39;s, Sterling or American Dollars or use ATM%26#39;s? Thanks

Hi,

Indeed you can not exchange bosnian currency in England. The best currency to exchange is euros, otherwise dollars. Some restaurants and shops in Sarajevo accept euros as payment. Additionally, ATM%26#39;s are everywhere in Sarajevo so you should not have trouble getting hold of local currency.

I have been to Bosnia twice in the past 8 months, and virtually everywhere (including the post office!) took Euros as well as the convertible mark. The standard exchange rate is 2 convertible marks to 1 euro (or thereabouts) and shops will happily take the euros and give the change in marks.
