Mostar or Sarajevo

I would like to visit Mostar or Sarajevo as a day trip from Dubrovnik. From what I understand, both are safe for a single female traveler, so no worries there, right? I%26#39;m open to car rental or bus. Seeking all and any advice/tips/opinions.

Agreed that Mostar would be better for a day trip from Dubrovnik.

Mostar is closer, it is about a 3-ish hour bus ride from Dubrovnik (the variable in time depends on traffic and how long it takes to get through border control).

However, keep in mind that I am not sure if there are RETURN buses available to get back from Mostar to Dubrovnik in the afternoon. Because of this factor, you may have to book a day tour with one of the travel agencies in Dubrovnik to ensure your return trip (Atlas and Elite are 2 companies operating in Dubrovnik). Or just spend a night in Mostar.

Sarajevo is about another 2.5 hours past Mostar, via either bus or train. It would make for a long day trip and not allow very much time to see Sarajevo.

We felt completely safe in both cities and the people were very nice and helpful.
