Driving from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to drive from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik?

Also which is the best route to take?

Via Michelin says 3 hours 35 minutes but other information (posts on this board, bus timetables)suggests it may take longer than this.

Via Michelin suggests a route heading South from Sarajevo and then out to the coast as opposed to the Mostar route I have also seen suggested.

We are spending two weeks in the area for a summer holiday, 1 week on the coast in Montengro, 3 days in Dubrovnik, 2 nights in Mostar and have 2 nights undecided as yet. We will hire a car and are trying to decide whether to spend those 2 nights in Sarajevo or whether it is a little too far away and to have a couple of extra nights on the coast somewhere.

Thanks alot for any advice!

Cheers

I know viamichelin says to take another route, but I would go through Mostar. I would like the opportunity to spend a couple nights in Sarajevo so I think thats a good idea. Anywhere on the coast is also a good idea-- How about someplace like Neum on the coast? Its a beautiful place and I think prices are generally lower here.

Thanks for the info BarryM, do you know how long the drive takes from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik, is it a longer drive the Mostar route?

I will be taking the Mostar route on my way to Sarajevo (if I go) so would happily take the other (Foca) way back towards Dubrovnik if thats quicker.

I hadn%26#39;t though about (or even heard of!) Neum so thanks for the suggestion, might look into it.

Cheers

0121, if you can do Sarajevo to Dubrovnik in 3 hours I%26#39;ll eat my shirt and yours too. You%26#39;ll do well, unless related to Nicki Lauda, to do Sarajevo to Mostar in much under 3 hours. Have done the trip many times with a professional driver and Sarajevo to Mostar is at least 2.5 hours; distance not great but the conditions less than ideal. The route you want is Sarajevo/Mostar/Dubrovnik (both ways) and I would strongly suggest you stay away from the route through Foca. All those negatives aside, you will thoroughly enjoy Sarajevo and Mostar; beautiful part of the world, beautiful people, and the pivo%26#39;s not bad either. If you make it to Mostar, continue to Sarajevo for the sake of a few hours and enjoy all the city has to offer.
