Travelling in Bosnia Herzegovina

We are travelling from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo via Mostar....this part of the trip we shall do by Bus/train. From Sarajevo we had intended Hiring a car and driving towards Plitvice and on to Zadar where we dapart. We are warned about difficulties hiring a car in B.H. and dropping off in Croatia....also we are warned about impossible speed limits...bad roads...bad driving....excessive vigilance on tourist cars vs speed.

We would appreciate your input.

I have worked in Bosnia for the past 4 years. Your information about a one-way hire is correct. I think it would be unlikely. However buses and trains are plentiful and cheap - and you get to admire the view.

Driving standards are about average for the Balkans and the speed limits are not too restrictive.

Bosnia is well worth a visit.

I traveld in my own car through 8 countries on the Balkan.

Part was Dubrovnik - Mostar - Sarajevo - Belgrade.

No problems in Bosnia, just a lot of fairy tales.

The roads were 10 times better than what I expected based on some descriptions.

Take a bus. You can%26#39;t take a rental car into a different country (or it will cost you a huge 1-way fee).

Or ask the hotel if they know a private driver.
