I am looking for a way to visit Mostar as a daytrip out of Dubrovnik either by private guide, tour bus or even rental car. Ideas and recommendations please...

I think you can do it in any way that you asked about. But if you can afford it, rent a car. This will allow you to go at your own pace and stop whenever, wherever you want. Mostar is a great place for a daytrip. Also make sure you stop by at Pocitelj along the way. Such a beautiful place overlooking the Neretva River.

Atlas travel run day trips to Mostar, two/three days per week. The office is near Restaurant Nautica at Pile gate.
Think the cost is about 400 Kuna and it leaves at 7:30
