Travel from Dubrovnik to Mostar to Sarajevo

I%26#39;m visiting Croatia and Bosnia %26amp; Herzegovina in October. I will be travelling from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo and want to stop in Mostar on the way.

I understand the train is the best way to travel from Mostar to Sarajevo.

Any ideas of how I can get from Dubrovnik to Mostar? I heard the buses are good, and don%26#39;t really want to drive.

From what I understand there are many buses that go from Dubrovnik to Mostar. I think that is your best bet. It will be a beautiful ride there and you can just sit and relax and enjoy the view.

There are definitely 2 buses in the afternoon, at 15.15 and 17.15, we took the later one last week. The journey takes 3 hours, I can%26#39;t remember the exact cost but it was about £10 each. It was a big air-con Globtours coach and made a 10 min stop on route for leg stretching etc. We also took the morning train from Mostar to Sarajevo - it leaves at 7.38am or there%26#39;s an evening train as well, tickets had to be bought on the day of departure and it cost 10KM each (that%26#39;s 5 Euro). It takes 2 and a half hours and it%26#39;s a really pretty journey. There are buses between the two cities as well which take about the same time - the bus and train station in Mostar are next to each other so you can decide when you%26#39;re there.

Hope that was of some help!

There are several Busses to Mostar/Sarajevo from Dubrovnik. Eurolines are the carrier we travelled with and it was good. The Bus station in Dubrovnik is a good walk from centre of the town....probably not a walk. As is usual in these places accomodation is offered at the stations and taxis are available. It is best to ask around about fares and agree a fair before travelling by taxi....not that theres a major problem with them but it saves arguments and feeling uncomfortable and ripped-off to any level.

Wahes are low here and occasional excess in fares is kindof acceptable ( to me)

Good point about the bus station not being in the centre of town. There%26#39;s a bus every ten minutes from outside the main entrance to the old town - I think it%26#39;s Bus No. 1a/b. Buy a ticket from the little kiosk by the bus stop - it%26#39;s more expensive if you buy it on the bus.

I usually travel by car so I wouldn%26#39;t know much about buses. But I took a train to Mostar once (from Sarajevo) and would definitely choose it over bus, not only because of the comfort, but because of the magnificent views you don%26#39;t get to see from the road so well.

Be aware that it might happen to be many people on board on Fridays and Sundays, in both directions, because this is a time when people (especially students) go home for a weekend (mostly from Sarajevo to Mostar on Friday and back to Sarajevo on Sunday).
