Safety in Bosnia?

I will be travelling to Europe soon (mid June) %26amp; our government website says it%26#39;s not so safe for foreigners to travel in Bosnia. (Or Serbia)

Has anyone had any trouble while travelling here? Or are there particular things to be careful of? This will be my first trip to Europe, so I have no experience at all. We will be going to Germany %26amp; Italy as well.

Hi we were just in Bosnia in May, and it felt very safe every where we went. We were driving, and had no problems whatsoever...in fact, we were really surprised at how safe we felt! We were able to walk home back to our hotel/hostel in Sarajevo and Mostar at night after having a few drinks, dinner etc, after midnight, and commented at just how safe the place felt. The only thing to watch out for is that the country is still heavily mined in certian areas, but if you are only going to cities/towns, or driving between them, you will have no problems with this, and area that is populated has been cleared of mines. We found Bosnian people to be very friendly and helpful, and most young people (almost anyone under 40 that we talked to) spoke English, at least enough to make ourselves understood and to understand them, and they seemed to be very friendly, helpful people. I can honestly say that Bosnia is now one of my favourite countries (having been to over 40) and would go back any time. Just go, you won%26#39;t regret it!
