Sarajevo or Belgrade??

My friend and I, we%26#39;re both in college, are planning on spending some time in Eastern Europe this summer. We%26#39;ve devised two different itineraries, and cannot decide whether to go to Belgrade or Sarajevo.

Itinerary 1:

Sarajevo

Mostar

Split

Budapest

Prague

Itinerary 2:

Belgrade

Budapest

Split

Prague

Basically, we are debating whether to start in Sarajevo or Belgrade. Does anyone have any advice on this subject?

Thanks

I live in sarajevo. But most of my friends live in Belgrade. So, I go there frequently. I commend you to visit Belgrade first, next year you can go to Sarajevo. Belgrade has a lot of atrraction, monument and rich night life... People are hospitality. Town lives 24/7:)... have a nice time, where ever you go!!!!!!!!1

Belgrade is crazy by night,so bordom is the only thihg you won%26quot;t be able to see and feel.People are most friendly and easy going,so if you need any information about the city itself or place to go,feel free to ask.

Best places to go by day are Ada Ciganlia,lake within the city or old tower K alemegdan.Also check Knez Mihajlova street,nearby galleries and museums.

Night time,well it%26quot;s up to you but my recomendation is Povetarac on the river Sava(new Belgrade side)

Hope you gonna have wicked time!

I would advise going to Sarajevo sooner rather than later. I%26#39;ve just spent the last 3 and a half years living there, and i%26#39;ve seen a big increase in tourism in the last year or so.

Sarajevo is unlike any other city in Eastern Europe. It%26#39;s completely unique and doesn%26#39;t even have a McDonalds, unlike many of its neigbouring countries - THAT%26#39;S what makes it so special!

It won%26#39;t take long before the world discovers Sarajevo and forces the city to become commercialised :(

Sarajevo is the best town. Just visit and you will come back again.

Sarajevo has to many atraction.The best hotel is RADON PLAZA.Thay have beautiful wellness and revolving restorana with the best view.

Tribefan-----what did you end up deciding or haven%26#39;t you gone yet? I still say Sarajevo and Mostar if you haven%26#39;t gone yet. If you went I hope you had a great trip and tell us about it.

I decided upon the Sarajevo/Mostar itinerary and have scheduled the trip for August. Thanks for your tips everyone!

|||

Good choice! I too will be in Sarajevo in August and i can%26#39;t wait!! Will you be there during the film festival?

Have a great trip and keep us posted, would love to hear how you get on!

|||

Please let me know how it went when you get back. I%26#39;m thinking you made the right choice!!!!!

Hi everyone. Thank you again for your advice. I recently finished my trip and my travelling mate and I really, really loved both Sarajevo and Mostar. They were both the absolute highlights of the trip. Bosnia is a place that is so beautiful and interesting, while the effects of the war are definitely still readily apparent. Bosnia is a place unlike any other I%26#39;ve ever been to and really makes history come alive and helps you understand how the international community can actually really make a difference in rehabilitating wartorn areas. If you are looking for interesting places to visit that will truly inspire you, visit Sarajevo and Mostar. I just wish I had had more time to spend more time in both of those places and to visit the rest of the country, too. I really hope to return soon!

Great that you enjoyed Mostar. I have not yet visited Sarajevo, but would like to get there eventually. Mostar was such a great, eye opening experience for me! Glad you had a great experience!
