Dubrovnik to mostar

Hi,

I will be in Dubrovnik in may for a week and was considering taking a day (and a night) to visit Mostar and the kravica waterfalls. I was hoping to rent a car from dubrovnik, and travel to Mostar via the Kravica waterfalls. We were also hoping to stay overnight in Mostor. Is this possible and how long would such a journey take?. Where is good to stay in mostar?

Any advice on this would be appreciated

thanks

We went to Mostar on a day trip from Dubrovnik this past summer and I would suggest that you do the same. The drive there was about three hours if I remember right, but we did stop on the way for breakfast. You will have to stop at a border crossing and they do check your passports when you go through. Mostar was just a beatiful place to me. To see the bridge and the Neretva flowing underneath it was just amazing to me. We only stayed here for about four or five hours and spent most of our time walking along the shops on the Muslim side of the city. We witnessed a man get paid to jump off of the bridge into the Neretva.

When we first made the plans to go to Mostar we were going to spend a night there and we did get reservations at the Ero. From what I have read, this might be the best place to stay in Mostar if you are looking at a hotel. But I am sure if you looked around you could find private accomodation also. Some of the reviews on this site are actually pretty good when speaking of the Ero.

Mostar was beautiful but at the same time a sad place. There is so much damage left from the war and many buildings that are still blown away and bullet holes visible throughout the city. There was still an uneasy feeling about this place. As beautiful as it is, they have a long way to go to mend what had taken place there. But go for the trip to Mostar, I think you will enjoy it!

Was in dubrovnik last week. The bus to Mostar is super easy and super cheap. I wouldnt hassle with a car, unless you really want to. Definitley overnight in Mostar if you can. Better location pansions than ROSE are Oscar and Pansion Botticelli. www.bhtourism.ba

The bus was about 3-4 hours -- depends on how many stops the bus makes, and how long the border crossing takes. We spent an hour at the border each of the 3 times we did the crossing.

Kravice Waterfalls are great, as are Blagaj and Pocitelj.
